Analyst, Group Benefits

Reporting to the Senior Consultant, Group Benefits, the Analyst partners with our Consultants for the complete employee benefits cycle, including plan design, benchmarking, market surveys, experience monitoring and renewal rating. This role also assists our Dehoney Administrative Services (DAS) Team with the preparation of total compensation statements (TCSs) and assists in the management of disability claims.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:

Analyst
· Perform advanced financial analyses, projections and illustrations.
· Analyze carrier renewals and market surveys and develop recommendations to support negotiations with respective providers/carriers.
· Perform ASO reconciliations along with rate setting recommendations.
· Conduct benchmarking studies and gap analysis.
· Draft client deliverables including reports, spreadsheets and presentations.
· Perform research and interpret information to support client solutions.
· Maintain deep knowledge of client documentation including contracts and underwriting arrangements.
· May attend client meetings to gain an understanding of project requirements with a Benefits Consultant.
· Assist with the collection and manipulation of data for the preparation and delivery of customized total compensation statements.
· Manages the administration of disability claims for clients, advocate where appropriate with the applicable insurance carrier.

Account Management
· Oversee the management of a block of group benefit accounts to ensure quality standards are met. Ensure deliverables, objectives, budget and timelines are met.
· Design and deliver presentations to clients, lead client meetings as well as key employee presentations.
· Make introductions to sales team, and/or actively promoting DFG at industry events/online forums/social media and applicable networking events.
· Actively seeking feedback from existing clients and asking for referrals wherever possible.
· Remain current with benefits landscape including insurer news, products, legislation and seminars/educational events.
· Complete special projects as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
· Demonstrated ability to uphold confidentiality and manage sensitive situations with tact
· Strong analytic and data management skills including the ability to find trends using logical and systematic thinking to interpret information
· Excellent written and verbal communications skills
· Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
· Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships
· Build strong relationships internally/externally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams

Training, Education and Experience
· Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field or commensurate experience
· 3+ years of experience in a similar position (ideally includes experience with larger national accounts gained in benefits consulting firm or an underwriting department of a national insurer)
· GBA Designation is an asset
· Life license (LLQP) is an asset and may be required as part of your employ
