Client Service Representative, Group Benefits – *Vancouver, BC or AB

As a key client contact, you love providing excellent service as well as enjoy the detail of organizing, tracking, and list checking that comes with administration. You will also support our consultants and customers by providing accurate and timely entry onto our internal benefit systems.

You are a natural in finding ways to improve efficiencies in processes while ensuring data integrity. About the Opportunity

The Benefits Administrator provides Third Party Administration for Dehoney Financial Group (DFG) which includes the administration, education, and communication of the Group Insurance Program and other benefits available to our clients. The role liaises with clients, internal stakeholders and insurance companies/carriers.

Key Responsibilities include:

•  Administer employee benefits and provide client services for various groups
•  Process enrolments, terminations, and changes to employee’s/member’s records by entering into online systems
•  Review employee applications for accurate and complete information and initiate appropriate follow-up procedures
•  Prepare, print and send client invoices
•  Produce and release accurate monthly billing statements on a timely basis to clients
•  Act as the primary liaison on day-to-day queries between insurance companies/carriers and the groups/clients
•  Reconcile and validate billing statements and member data records with insurance carrier records where applicable
•  Assist with new client implementations
•  Handle inquiries from employers relating to their group employee benefits and escalate to Manager when necessary
•  Assist the Manager with exceptions/variances and any escalated issues or actions that need to be taken related to assigned clients
•  Assist in writing internal and external administration manuals
•  Assist on various projects

Education and Experience

•  Minimum of 1 year relevant industry experience, ideally in a similar role
•  Proven experience administering and handling benefit groups is an asset
•  Experience with payroll is an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

•  Excellent customer service and communication skills
•  Self-motivated and works well independently as well as within a collaborative team
•  Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships both internally and externally
•  Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
•  Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize
•  Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy in completing data entry; at least 75% of the role is entering & reconciling data
•  Proficient in database programs is an asset
•  Ability to deal with various insurance policies
•  Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

About the Opportunity

The Client Service Representative (CSR) supports our Account Manager Team by handling a variety of tasks and functions including contract document review, amendment tracking, inter-department communication, issue resolution and analytical support.

This role supports the Account Managers/Consultants, and ultimately our clients, with proactive service delivery to maximize client retention and develop both long-term and new client relationships. The role liaises with internal stakeholders, insurance carriers, other vendors, and customers.

Key Responsibilities include:

Client Service & Administrative Support

•  Support Account Managers in preparing client deliverables including renewals, proposals, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and other customized documents.
•  Provide client service and account management support to small group clients.
•  Create benefit plan summaries for new groups update summaries for existing groups.
•  Track carrier amendments and reviews policy documents to ensure accuracy in capturing changes.
•  Communicate with carriers about plan changes (amendments) and other policy document issues.
•  Liaise with internal departments to communicate changes in plan designs, rates, and commission.
•  Update monthly Group activity report (new groups, terminations, commission changes/splits, etc.).
•  Assist with the execution of major projects including plan marketing, requests for proposal, carrier implementation and renewal.
•  Proactively resolve client issues by communicating with internal departments, insurance carriers and clients.
•  Provide backup for other team members during absences.

Analytical Support

•  Prepare claims experience reports for clients.
•  Perform financial analyses, projections, and illustrations.
•  Analyze carrier renewals, market surveys, and develop recommendations to support negotiations with respective providers/carriers.
•  Conduct benchmarking studies and gap analysis.
•  Perform research and interpret information to support client solutions.
•  Maintain client documentation including contracts and underwriting arrangements.

Education and Experience

•  Minimum 3 years administrative and customer service experience preferably within group benefits
•  Strong knowledge of group benefit products as well as applicable legislation is ideal
•  Bachelor’s Degree or business diploma is an asset
•  GBA or CEBS designation or willingness to work towards designation within your first 6 months
•  LLQP/Life Licensed in-home province and BC or willingness to work towards licensing within your first 6 months

•  Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships (internal and external)
•  Detail oriented with sound analytical and problem-solving skills; finds insights via thorough analysis
•  Excellent communication (written and oral) skills
•  Self-motivated and works well independently as well as within a collaborative team
•  Strong organization and time management skills
•  Intermediate working knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), specifically in transferring data to meaningful client exhibits
